Meanwhile the bodycare category gained some exciting new entrants with releases from The Ordinary and a collaboration between Soft Services and D.S. & Durga. Here are the releases on BeautyMatter’s radar this week.RETAILSkincare brand Prequel has launched into Target just one year into its launch and after securing $18 million in DTC sales. The company will enter all Target doors on August 18, with industry estimates expecting $35 million in sales during its first year. Part of its success is the brand’s $18 Gleanser (a 50% glycerin-infused cleanser) going viral on TikTok. All of the brand’s SKUs are also formulated as fragrance-free and hypoallergenic. The brand was founded by cosmetic and medical dermatologist Samantha Ellis and created with assistance from Ben Bennett, founder and CEO of brand accelerator The Center, which previously launched Naturium.The Fragrance Shop is continuing its UK expansion with a store opening in Edinburgh, the first presence in the Scottish capital. The space is located at outdoor retail park Fort Kinnaird and offers over 100 brands including Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci, and Prada. It joins other retailers at the location including Boots and Superdrug. The opening follows a record-breaking year for the retailer, with a sales boost of 6.1%.BRAND
